Snowy morning in Clontarf

Another snowy morning in Clontarf and the near classic in red made it from its home on the Hill of Howth, about twelve kilometres away. Despite the rear wheel drive and the steep hills the driver had to negotiate, the 'lady in Red' made it! Your Blogger, also the owner of such a fine car with nearly three hundred kilometres on the clock, knows what it is capable of.

This thing looks a bit grumpy

This was donated to Dublin City Council by one of the South American countries. We are more used to seeing it surrounded by grass. Rather different now!

Clontarf in the snow

2nd December. I have not seen this amount of snow by the coast since January 1981, and certainly not at this time of year!

Royal Dublin Golf Club

The second oldest golf club in Ireland, it was established here in 1898 on the Bull Island. It has had many famous golfers over the course in the past. Names like Jack Nichlaus, Nick Faldo, Greg Norman and of course Christy O'Connor. many many more.
The island during the winter is home to hundreds of Brent Geese and lots more birds from the frozen north. It is a paradise for bird watchers at this of year.

This is a slightly different view of an earlier post. Today we are in the grip of Winter and I do not think anyone will venture out in a little sailing boat just to freeze to death!

This bridge leads onto the Bull Island. Famous for being the home of the second oldest golf club in Ireland.You will find hundreds of Brent Geese and other birds from the frozen north who spend the winter here.
